A Free iPhone App for Google Analytics

Analyze This! is a free app that presents an executive overview of Google Analytics data to directors on the go. It does not show you everything that is available in Google Analytics. Instead it focuses on the measurements that matter—the ones that impact your bottom line.

Interested in monitoring goals, e-commerce, and campaigns, and how they develop daily, weekly, or monthly? Then this app is for you!

Analyze This! is intended for businesspeople who set goals, run campaigns, and track sales. It is not for people who just like to analyze visits, visitors, and page views.

The idea is to present only the key measurements that instantly tell you how your business is doing. There are other apps on the market, but ours is free and easy to use.

A guide to using Analyze This! can be found here.

Getting started

The first time you start Analyze This!, you must enter your Google Analytics e-mail address and password. You can also choose whether you want to be automatically logged in the next time you open Analyze This!

If you want to switch Google Analytics accounts later, go to the screen where you select apps, and open Settings. Scroll all the way down to settings for individual apps. Open the settings for Analyze This! Now you can switch Google Analytics accounts by changing the e-mail and password. Select automatic login if you want Analyze This! to automatically log you in to the account the next time you open the application.

If you have logged into a Google Analytics account, the first thing you will see when opening Analyze This! is the profile selector. Your Google Analytics profiles are displayed in alphabetical order. If you manage several accounts through the same e-mail address, you will be able to select the account before selecting the profile.

Once you have selected a profile, Analyze This! will preload some data for the reports. There may be a delay. Since the data is preloaded, you will want to restart the app at least once a day.

Limitations

Please note that Analyze This! is meant to give an executive overview of Google Analytics. It does not present all data available in Google Analytics. Instead the focus is on your bottom line, with reports on goals, campaigns, and e-commerce. This app is intended for businesspeople who set goals, run campaigns, and track sales. It is not for people who just like to analyze visits, visitors, and page views.

App tracking

We, the developers of Analyze This!, are driven by analytics, so we measure the number of times the application is opened, but individual users are not tracked.

Dates and comparisons

There are three reporting intervals available for all reports: yesterday, last week, and last month.

Comparisons can be shown only if there is data for that period in the Google Analytics profile you have selected. For example, if you do not see any data for last year, it is because you did not collect any data during the corresponding period last year.

Settings

The thousands delimiter and decimal point in Analyze This! are determined by your global iPhone settings. To change them, go to the view where you see all apps on your iPhone, and open Settings. Scroll down to General, and open it. Scroll down to International, and open it. Select Region Format.

The week format is determined by the region format settings on your iPhone. In some countries, the week starts on a Sunday; in other countries, it starts on a Monday. If your region is set to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United States, or United Kingdom, weeks in Analyze This! will begin on a Sunday and end on a Saturday. If your region is set to Sweden, or any other region, the week will instead start on a Monday and end on a Sunday. Note that when comparing last week to the same period last year, the comparison uses the calendar dates, not the week number.

Goals

The goals report allows you to monitor the development of your goals yesterday, last week, and last month compared to the previous period and the corresponding period the previous year. In other words, you can compare your website's performance yesterday compared to the day before yesterday as well as to the corresponding date last year.

Goal completions are displayed in raw numbers for the selected period and the change in percentage compared to previous period and the corresponding period previous year.

Goal names are not supported by the Google Analytics API, but you can manually name goals in the app by tapping on each goal.

Comparisons can be shown only if there is data for that period in the Google Analytics profile you have selected. For example, if you do not see any data for last year, it is because you did not collect any data during the corresponding period last year.

If you do not get any data in this report, it is because no goals have been defined or there is a problem with your goal data for the selected period.

E-Commerce

The e-commerce report allows you to monitor the development of your revenue from e-commerce. You can compare yesterday to the day before yesterday, last week to the week before last week, and last month to the month before last month. There is also a comparison to the corresponding period the previous year. Revenue is shown in raw numbers, and the change compared to the previous period is displayed in percentage.

You can also see the top-selling products sorted by revenue in descending order.

Comparisons can be shown only if there is data for that period in the Google Analytics profile you have selected. For example, if you do not see any data for last year, it is because you did not collect any data during the corresponding period last year.

If you do not get any data in this report, it is because e-commerce tracking has not been implemented or there is a problem with your e-commerce data for the selected period.

Campaigns

The campaigns report allows you to find out how much revenue your top-performing campaigns have generated, as well as their goal conversion rate. You can view data for yesterday, last week, and last month.

Comparisons can be shown only if there is data for that period in the Google Analytics profile you have selected. For example, if you do not see any data for last year, it is because you did not collect any data during the corresponding period last year.

If you do not get any data in this report, it is because no visits have originated from URLs campaign-tagged for Google Analytics during the selected period.
